Is Endometrial Thickness All That Counts? – Reproductive BioMedicine Online
Reproductive BioMedicine Online shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Paul Pirtea and Baris Ata published in RBMO:
“This new Countercurrent Contribution from Paul Pirtea and Baris Ata challenges the commonly used 7mm threshold for endometrial thickness in ART, arguing that the standard lacks strong evidence and stems from outdated data.
The authors suggest an overreliance on endometrial thickness, particularly when driven by retrospective data, may obscure other potentially more relevant markers of endometrial receptivity and that in practice, we must embrace complexity. Endometrial thickness is a readily accessible, non-invasive biomarker, but it should not dictate our clinical decisions in isolation. Rather, it should complement a comprehensive assessment that includes embryo quality, endometrial pattern and uterine anatomy and patient history – the future of ART lies in personalized, data-driven care, not rigid thresholds.

Paul Pirtea, Human Reproduction Specialist, Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hospital FOCH, shared Reproductive BioMedicine Online’s post, adding:
