Michael Chapman: Having Played a Part in the Evolution of IVF Has Been an Extraordinary Chapter of My Career
Michael Chapman, Professor at IVF Australia and Fertility Specialist at Life Fertility Clinic Sydney, shared on LinkedIn:
“When I first stepped into fertility medicine, IVF was still considered experimental. Success looked very different then – achieving a pregnancy for even one in ten patients was something worth celebrating.
My career began in Adelaide under Professor Warren Jones, where research gave me a foundation that would later take me to Queen Charlotte’s in London, one of the leading obstetric units of its time. By my early thirties, I had published around 30 research papers, presented at numerous medical meetings and was already treating patients experiencing infertility.
From there, my work expanded beyond the UK. I became involved in both public and private fertility care and helped establish clinics internationally, including in Naples, Athens and Saudi Arabia, before eventually returning home to Australia.
To have witnessed IVF develop from its earliest experimental years into the sophisticated fertility treatment we have today – and to have played a part in that evolution – has been an extraordinary chapter of my career.”
