“My thought.
Having a baby and not being able to have one have something strange in common.
Nobody really tells you what to do.
When you bring your first baby home, you close the door behind you and suddenly realize that you’re responsible for this tiny human being. No manual, no training. You figure it out as you go.
Infertility can create a strangely similar feeling – at the exact opposite end of the same journey.
You want a child. It isn’t happening. And suddenly you enter a world you know nothing about: fertility specialists, tests, hormones, acronyms, appointments, waiting. You don’t know where to start, what matters, or even what questions you should be asking.
And this time, confusion comes with fear.
How long should we keep trying? Who should we talk to first? Is something wrong? What happens next?
So people search. They read. They ask friends. They go online. They try to make sense of an enormous amount of information at a moment when they are already emotionally overwhelmed.
We have built extraordinary medicine to help people have children. But I think we have underestimated what happens before care really begins: that moment when people are simply trying to understand what is happening to them and what they should do next.
This is one of the reasons we built Alwayslab. Not to give patients more information. There is already plenty of that. But to help turn confusion into a clearer path to care.
Because nobody should have to become an expert in infertility just to understand where to start.”
