“I went through 6 IVF cycles. Each came with a new bill.
And a baby shouldn’t be a luxury, but fertility care is.
This always makes me sad and angry.
Medicine. Tests. Procedures. Embryo storage.
And after all that, there was no promise it would work.
Infertility already asks us to endure physical pain, uncertainty, and grief.
But then you also have to ask:
How many times can we afford to try?
Some families can try again and again.
Some get just one chance.
Some never get to start.
Just because they can’t afford the cost.
I am beyond grateful that we were able to keep trying.
But I will never confuse that opportunity with deserving a baby more than someone who had to stop.
Fertility care should not be reserved for people with exceptional incomes, generous employers, or the ability to take on devastating debt.
Hope shouldn’t end when savings do.
Your bank account shouldn’t decide if you can get care.
Or how many chances you get to become a parent.
