Caroline Ford: Reflects on a Journey in Gynaecological Cancer

Caroline Ford, Group Leader and Professor – Gynaecological Cancer Research Group at UNSW, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“A bittersweet announcement as I wind down my leadership of the Gynaecological Cancer Research Group Gynaecological Cancer Research UNSW (GCRG) this month. It has been an absolute joy to build, grow and learn from an outstanding team of researchers over the last 16 years (!). While I am of course proud of our research achievements in ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer and endometriosis, what I value most is the people and the culture we created together. We prioritised inclusion, care, science communication, support and of course Friday fika! It has been a privilege to work with everyone that came through the lab over the years, as well as our collaborators and highly valued consumers. The public support for our research and ovarian cancer awareness has been incredible. Thank you for everything. Ellen Barlow, Bonnie Werner, Teagan Fisher, Elyse Powell, Tim Salita, Claire Henry, Dongli Liu, Marilisa Cortesi, Kristina Warton, Brigitte Hodder, Estelle Llamosas, Nicole Laurencia Yuwono, Sean Si Qian Ma, Ashfaque Quadir, Marina Pavanello, Kate Gunther, Sumyukta Garikapati, Hannah Lowes, Babs Kremers, Amy Coopes, Kathryn Leaney, Gill Stannard, Zoe Phan, Nidhi Joshi, Sophie Hay, Mollie Boyd, Sheri Nixdorf and so many more! UNSW Medicine and Health

In January I will be moving into a new role as the Strategic Director of the Ainsworth Endometriosis Research Institute. Lots more information and opportunities to come!

Rest assured that gynaecological cancer research at UNSW remains strong and will continue. The brilliant Kristina Warton will continue her leadership of ovarian cancer early detection and liquid biopsy projects with many continuing members of the team. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with them and cheering them on.”
