Jasmin Ramsey: Shining a Light on Endometriosis Misunderstandings
Jasmin Ramsey, Communications and Public Relations Manager at The Center for Innovative GYN Care, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“If men lost work, fertility, and quality of life for seven years before being diagnosed with a disease that can be crippling, would we still call it ‘normal’?
The November issue of The Lancet puts a much-needed spotlight on women’s health—and especially endometriosis, a condition that affects at least 1 in 10 women worldwide.
Working at a GYN surgical practice that treats complex diseases like endometriosis has shown me how deeply this condition is misunderstood, even within medicine. Many women are told their pain is ‘just bad cramps.’ It’s a disease that can silently steal years of work, fertility, and quality of life. Yet too often, women are told it’s normal.
Endometriosis is not rare. It’s underfunded, underdiagnosed, and underprioritized—and that must change.
Women shouldn’t have to become experts in their own disease just to be believed.”
