Eva Schenkman: Never Forget the Person Who Gave You Your First Opportunity
Eva Schenkman, President and Chief Science Officer of ARTLAB IVF Training and Research Center and Laboratory Director of the University of Oklahoma, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Never forget the person who gave you your first opportunity!
It was such a pleasure to see friends and colleagues at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine – ASRM in Baltimore. None more important than Dr. K!
As I reflect on nearly 35 years in reproductive medicine, I am reminded that every career begins with someone willing to believe in your potential and give you a chance.
I was fortunate to have been mentored by the IVF pioneer and legendary Dr. Robert H. Foote at Cornell University, who helped shape my passion for reproductive biology. But it was Dr. Daniel Kenigsberg who gave me my first opportunity at RMA of New York – Long Island, 35 years ago! I am forever thankful for that opportunity!
Today, as I dedicate much of my work to training the next generation of embryologists, I am reminded of the importance of giving others that same opportunity.
Knowledge can be taught and skills can be developed, but sometimes the greatest gift we give someone is simply believing in their potential and giving them a chance!
Thank you, Daniel Kenigsberg, for opening that first door! I miss working with you and our colleagues (and lunches at Mather!) on Long Island!
To my colleagues: Take a moment to thank the person who gave you your first opportunity. Better yet, honor them by opening a door for someone else.”
