Understanding Hormonal Influences on Endometriosis Symptoms – Gedeon Richter France

Gedeon Richter France shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Endometriosis, a hormone-dependent disease

In the endométriose, endometrial-like tissue grows outside the uterus and reacts to hormonal fluctuations in the menstrual cycle.

Under the influence of oestrogen, endometriosis lesions are stimulated, which can be accompanied by inflammation, pain and sometimes fibrous phenomena, depending on the situation.

Hormonal treatment aims to reduce the stimulation of endometriosis lesions by decreasing estradiol levels and limit bleeding into the lesions, which helps to reduce inflammation and pain.

How, in your opinion, can we better explain the link between the hormonal cycle and the symptoms of endometriosis?
