Hugo Manoukian: Launch of Infertility Month at France’s Ministry of Health Calls for Stronger Public Health Action
Hugo Manoukian, Founder of Nowa Care, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This morning, I participated in the launch of Infertility Month in Ministry of Health in France.
Alongside the Collectif BAMP Association (Virginie RIO, Maeva OLIVE, Sabrina Barbat ), representatives of the State, doctors (Nathalie Massin, Gwénola Keromnès, Organon laboratories, INFO Fertilité SOPK Europe Association Ferti971 associations and other committed actors.
Infertility now affects nearly 3.3 million people in France.
And yet, the paths remain long, blurred, uneven, and often exhausting, for women and couples alike.
It is urgent to move the lines.
And for this, several priorities were recalled today:
- Launch a real public health campaign on fertility, to break taboos, inform and prevent.
- Raise awareness among young people from high school, with fertility education modules, to better understand the impact of age, health and lifestyle.
- Improve care pathways: access to early check-ups, human support, better coordination between professionals.
- Actively support patient associations, such as Collectif BAMP or InfoFertility, which do essential work in listening, educating and advocating.
- Fund medical research, support innovation (new treatments, protocols), and change the law on techniques that are still banned in France, such as PGT-A (genetic analysis of embryos).
The issue is as much human as it is political and scientific.
It is time to recognize that infertility is not a luxury or a taboo, but a public health issue in its own right
Thank you to those who are committed, in the field, in the labs, in the institutions.
If you want to follow this fight and contribute in your own way, follow Infertility Month and the actions of the BAMP Collective.”
