The Real Reason IVF Success Falls With Age – Fertility Plus
Fertility Plus shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The Real Reason IVF Success Falls With Age
Most people think IVF success falls with age because older women produce fewer eggs. That is only part of the story. The bigger issue is that as eggs age, they are more likely to contain chromosome errors. Women in their 20s and early 30s can often create many embryos, and a large proportion of those embryos are chromosomally normal. Women in their 40s may still create embryos, but finding a chromosomally normal embryo becomes much harder.
Think of it like searching for a healthy seed in a bag. When you are younger, many of the seeds are healthy. As you get older, there are fewer healthy seeds in the bag. IVF can often help collect more eggs, but no treatment can completely reverse the natural ageing process inside the egg. That is why age remains one of the most important factors affecting fertility and IVF success.
