Julie Morgan: Is AI Changing Fertility Care or Changing Trust?
Julie Morgan, Chair, Education Committee at The European Fertility Society, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Patients have always sought second opinions, searched for information and looked for reassurance outside the clinic. What feels different today is the scale, speed and accessibility of those conversations.
A patient can now upload a clinic letter into ChatGPT and ask for it to be explained in plain English. They can compare recommendations from different clinics, explore alternative treatment options, generate questions and seek reassurance within minutes. For some, this may be empowering; for others, it may be confusing. Either way, it represents a significant shift in how patients engage with fertility care.
The more I have thought about this issue, the more I find myself wondering whether this is really an AI story at all. Perhaps it is a trust story.
I explore this question in my latest article:
Something Is Changing in Fertility Care: How AI, social media and changing patterns of trust are reshaping IVF and fertility care.”
