Marco Zaccaria: April is Adenomyosis Awareness Month!
Marco Zaccaria, Global Product Manager at ESGE European Society Gynecology Endoscopy, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“April is Adenomyosis Awareness Month, a time dedicated to shedding the light on this often-misunderstood condition that affects countless individuals worldwide
Adenomyosis is a painful and debilitating condition in which the inner lining of the uterus grows into the muscular wall, causing severe cramping, heavy periods, and chronic pelvic pain.
Despite its impact on quality of life, many patients face delayed diagnoses, misdiagnoses and inadequate treatment due to a lack of medical awareness and understanding.
Interstitial myolysis via microwave or radio frequency ablation is one of the treatment options for patients suffering from this benign yet debilitating condition: using a microwave antenna, it is possible to ablate the area affected by adenomyosis, employing different techniques depending on the specific phenotype—cystic adenomyoma, focal adenomyosis, or diffuse adenomyosis.
The goal is not only to reduce the volume of the affected area but, above all, to alleviate symptoms: bleeding, pelvic pain, dyspareunia, and constipation.
