Fiona Pathiraja-Møller: Periods Are Valuable Health Data, and Science Is Finally Treating Them That Way
Fiona Pathiraja-Møller, Managing Partner at Crista Galli Ventures, shared on LinkedIn:
“Periods are valuable health data. Science is finally treating them that way.
CycleTrack, a study led by researchers at the University of Exeter and the University of Bristol, is building the world’s largest biobank of menstrual blood.
Thousands of UK participants from two cohorts are taking part, using specially designed period pads alongside daily symptom tracking and detailed questionnaires.
Each sample links to genetic and health data already tracked for decades, adding a whole new dimension to the research.
The aim: to understand the biological markers behind menstrual conditions, helping diagnose and treat them earlier.
This study signals something much bigger than more research into menstrual health. It’s evidence that stigma is beginning to shift, allowing periods to finally be taken seriously as health data.
Re-share if this resonated.”
