RCOG Responds to Yvette Cooper’s Appointment as Health and Social Care Secretary
Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) has responded to the announcement that Yvette Cooper has been named as the new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care.
We welcome Yvette’s commitment to prioritise maternity care but urge her to make women’s health a priority throughout the life course through sustainable funding and delivery.
Dr Alison Wright, President of the RCOG said: ‘The new Secretary of State now has the opportunity to direct the system to act on the health of half the population, and the safety of every baby born in England.’
The College looks forward to working closely with her to deliver the change that women, families and the system urgently need – and to make this the turning point towards positive change.
