Rebecca Mallick: Fertility Must Become Standard in Endometriosis Care
Rebecca Mallick, Clinical Lead ObGyn Princess Royal Hospital at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“A few weeks ago, I attended a Parliamentary session hosted by The Endometriosis Foundation
One message has stayed with me:
We are still failing endometriosis patients on fertility.
There are too many disparities in accessing care and many patients don’t recieve clear counselling on ovarian reserve, surgical impact, or future options.
As surgeons, we know time matters.
But fertility is still not consistently embedded into endometriosis care pathways. It is a systems failure.
An open letter is now calling for change, but this also challenges us as clinicians:
Are we addressing fertility early enough in every consultation?
Awareness is improving.
Surgery is advancing.
Now the system must catch up.”
