Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) has gained significant attentionReproductive Health, Reproductive Medicine, Fertility, Fertility News, OBGYN in reproductive medicine for its potential role in enhancing egg quality and mitochondrial function.
Mitochondria are the energy-producing units of oocytes, and their function is essential for egg maturation, fertilization, and early embryo development. Research suggests that CoQ10 supplementation may help reduce oxidative stress and support cellular energy production, particularly in women with advanced maternal age or diminished ovarian reserve.
While CoQ10 is not a guarantee of IVF success, it represents a promising adjunct in fertility care and highlights the importance of optimizing gamete health before treatment.
