Fiona Pathiraja-Møller: Tennis Players No Longer Have to Choose Between Career and Family

Fiona Pathiraja-Møller, Managing Partner at Crista Galli Ventures, shared on LinkedIn:

“Tennis players no longer have to choose between building their career and starting a family.

In March, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) introduced 12 months of paid maternity leave and grants for fertility treatments.

In June, it added ranking protection for players, allowing them to take time off for egg freezing.

That’s 10 weeks to go through the retrieval and freezing process, recover at their own pace and return to competition (all without losing their ranking).

Together, these two policies give players more autonomy around how and when to start a family.

The WTA is raising the bar for women in sport.

Because equality isn’t just about better pay or equal opportunities. It’s about building the support systems to make sport more accessible for everyone.”
