On Day 5, a tiny sample of cells is safely taken from the embryo (trophectoderm biopsy). These cells are tested using advanced DNA sequencing (NGS) to check all 23 chromosome pairs. Only embryos with the correct number of chromosomes (euploid) are kept and frozen.
When these healthy embryos are transferred — up to three times if needed — the results are remarkable: 53.2% live birth after the first transfer, 48.6% after the second, and 62.5% after the third.
Overall, 96.9% of women (189 out of 195) who completed up to three transfers had a baby.
This research proves that in most cases of recurrent miscarriage, the problem is usually in the embryo’s chromosomes — not the mother’s body. PGT-A gives us a powerful way to identify and use only the healthiest embryos.
Again, this is one study and in 10-15% of cases we may not find any abnormality.”
