Cell-Free Fetal DNA Testing for Single-Gene Conditions – RCOG
Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) shared on LinkedIn:
“We have published a new Scientific Impact Paper on cell-free fetal DNA testing for single-gene conditions (Scientific Impact Paper No. 80).
Cell-free fetal DNA (cffDNA) circulates in a pregnant woman’s blood in early pregnancy and is a potential source of genetic material from the developing fetus that can be used to test the baby for selected genetic conditions.
This opinion paper reviews non-invasive prenatal diagnosis (NIPD) using cffDNA in specific single-gene conditions where it may be offered as an alternative to traditional invasive testing.
