Mikhail Ruzaev: Redefining AMH and AFC: Insights on Embryo Euploidy
Mikhail Ruzaev, Urologist, Andrologist at www.ruzaev.com, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Recent research challenges the conventional understanding of antimüllerian hormone (AMH) and antral follicle count (AFC) as predictors of embryo euploidy in in vitro fertilization (IVF) with preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A).
In a retrospective cohort study involving 11,473 women and 13,451 IVF cycles conducted between October 2016 and August 2024 across a national network of infertility clinics in the United States, the findings indicate that lower levels of AMH and AFC do not correlate with a significant decrease in embryo euploidy or live birth outcomes.
This suggests that while AMH and AFC are valuable for assessing ovarian reserve, their predictive value regarding embryo euploidy may be limited when not considering other factors, such as maternal age.
