Barbara Lawrenz: IVF/ICSI Treatment May Not Only Be a Blessing but Also a Dilemma
Barbara Lawrenz, IVF-specialist and Scientific Director at ART Fertility Clinics Abu Dhabi, UAE, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“For some couples, having an excess of embryos available following IVF/ICSI treatment may not only be a blessing but also a dilemma because they may face difficulties deciding the fate of surplus, possibly ‘unneeded’ embryos. With the advent of oocyte cryopreservation and predictive algorithm that can estimate the number of oocytes required for obtaining a euploid embryo based on patients’ characteristics, ‘smart insemination’ in couples with good prognosis may be a solution to this dilemma.
I am happy to share our latest thoughts on this in the form of a Countercurrent paper, now published in RBMO.”
