Impact of Non-Medical Treatments of Endometrioma on Pregnancy Outcomes – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“From our November issue, 51.5, this meta-analysis from assesses the impact of non-medical endometrioma treatments on pregnancy rates in infertile women with endometrioma.
To date, no randomized clinical trials have demonstrated a higher efficacy of one specific technique in terms of either pregnancy rate or recurrence rate.
The results of this review suggest cystectomy and ablation have similar pregnancy and recurrence rates, making them suitable for treating endometriomas in infertile women; with sclerotherapy and no treatment also providing acceptable pregnancy rates. However, fenestration and coagulation are not recommended due to poor outcomes in terms of pregnancy and recurrence rates.
The authors recommend personalised tailoring of treatments, taking into account clinical features and preferences, with the goals of alleviating pain, enhancing fertility, improving quality of life and minimizing the need for further surgery.
As with all RBMO Review articles, this paper is free to read, available from our November issue.”
