Sam Azer: The Link Between Endometriosis and AMH

Sam Azer, Gynecologist at Links Medical, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Understanding the Link Between Endometriosis and AMH

For many women living with endometriosis, concerns about long-term fertility are paramount. A key tool in assessing reproductive health is testing Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) levels. AMH offers a snapshot of ovarian reserve, indicating the remaining supply of eggs in the ovaries.

Research shows that endometriosis, especially when ovarian cysts (endometriomas) are present or following their surgical removal, can result in decreased AMH levels. It is important to note that a lower AMH result does not equate to a diagnosis of infertility; instead, it serves as a data point to help tailor treatment plans.

Whether considering egg freezing, IVF, or natural conception, understanding AMH levels enables proactive and strategic approaches to preserving fertility potential.”
