The Relationship Between Trophectoderm Biopsy and Early Pregnancy Outcomes – RBMO

Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Rebecca Zhuo et al.:

“The relationship between trophectoderm biopsy and early pregnancy outcomes in single FET cycles represents a critical area of investigation in assisted reproductive technology, given the significance of β-HCG as the earliest marker of pregnancy viability before ultrasound confirmation.

Serum β-HCG is detectable as early as 8–10 days after ovulation, and so understanding factors that influence β-HCG levels enables accurate interpretation of early pregnancy outcomes.

In the results of this unique new study from Rebecca Zhuo and a team in New York, trophectoderm re-biopsy was associated with significantly lower serum β-HCG levels in early pregnancies resulting in live births compared with no biopsy and single biopsy, without corresponding differences in perinatal outcomes.

These findings suggest that β-HCG values after trophectoderm re-biopsy and single FET may require contextual interpretation, as lower levels do not necessarily reflect a compromised prognosis.

The full paper is available to RBMO subscribers from the Periconception section of our December issue, now.”
