Effect of Endometriosis and Adenomyosis on Oocyte Quality and Morphology – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Selected as an Editor’s Choice from our March issue, this paper adds to the debate surrounding the existence of correlations between endometriosis, oocyte morphology and quality, where some studies conclude that oocyte quality is adversely impacted by endometriosis, and others show no such effect.
This study by Semra Kahraman, Ipek Duzguner, and Yucel Sahin analyses data from a very large number of endometriosis and non-endometriosis cases, evaluating a total of 205,978 oocytes morphologically to show that endometriosis and adenomyosis do not affect the oocyte morphology and oocyte quality. Their results show that live birth rates appear unaffected in endometriosis cases. However, the presence of adenomyosis increases the risk of miscarriages and decreases live birth rate.
