Northern Ireland Introduces Paid Leave After Early Pregnancy Loss – The Female Quotient
The Female Quotient shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Northern Ireland has become the first region in the UK to offer paid leave for employees who experience a miscarriage, introducing two weeks of statutory paid leave from day one for both parents and partners following pregnancy loss before 24 weeks.
Pregnancy loss is far more common than often discussed, with an estimated 10–20% of known pregnancies ending in miscarriage, most within the first trimester. And yet, support in the workplace has long been limited or overlooked.
By recognizing the emotional and physical impact of miscarriage and extending leave to both parents and partners, this policy sets a new standard for what compassionate, inclusive workplaces can look like.”
