“The Great Egg Escape: Understanding Premature Ovulation in IVF
Did you know that premature ovulation can occur when an ovarian follicle breaks open before it’s supposed to? This can happen even without the usual hormonal triggers!
A subtle early rise in progesterone is often the culprit, activating enzymes that weaken the follicle’s walls. Larger follicles and those in older women are particularly at risk due to their thinner walls.
But here’s some good news! A ruptured follicle doesn’t always mean the egg is lost. In many cases, the egg can still be trapped inside and successfully retrieved!
