Elias Dahdouh: The Effect of Obesity on Fertility and ART Success Among Ethnic Groups
Elias Dahdouh, Associate Professor at The University of Montreal, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Delighted to share our newly published book chapter (#18) in Springer:
‘The Effect of Obesity on Fertility and ART Success Among Ethnic Groups’
This state-of-the-art review explores how high BMI negatively affects both:
- Spontaneous conception
- Fertility treatments (especially IVF)
We also present evidence-based strategies for:
- Prevention
- Management
- Improved outcomes
A major highlight:
The emerging role of GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonists—a promising new frontier in reproductive medicine.
But access remains limited – especially for individuals from lower-income and marginalized communities.
The message is clear:
It’s time to act – and act now.
We call for coordinated efforts from:
- Quebec and Canadian health authorities
- U.S. healthcare systems
Global stakeholders
…to expand access, reduce disparities, and improve fertility outcomes for all.
Gratitude to my co-authors and collaborators:
- Dr. Isabelle Daneault Peloquin – Endocrinologist, ART CHU Sainte-Justine
- Prof. Fady I. Sharara – My Friend and Our dedicated editor
Proud to contribute to advancing this crucial conversation at the intersection of:
- Metabolic health
- Fertility
- Health equity.”
