It’s World Menopause Day – International Menopause Society
International Menopause Society (IMS) shared on LinkedIn:
”Today is World Menopause Day
This year’s theme for World Menopause Day is Chronic Pain At Midlife, an important public health issue that deserves far more attention.
Chronic pain is common in women and can become particularly challenging during midlife. Conditions such as fibromyalgia, migraine and chronic pelvic pain frequently overlap, and menopause symptoms such as poor sleep, fatigue, mood changes and hot flushes can make pain worse.
Yet pain in midlife women is often under-recognized, underdiagnosed and inadequately treated. Gender stereotypes and inequalities in healthcare also mean it is too often not taken seriously.
Our 2026 White Paper calls for personalized, multidisciplinary care that considers the different factors behind each woman’s pain, and for chronic pain to be recognized as an important part of midlife health.
Today, help us change the conversation.
Share our resources, talk about chronic pain at midlife, and make sure no woman feels she has to live with it alone.”
