Alejandro González: PGT-A May Improve Embryo Selection, but Does It Increase Live Births?
Alejandro González, Gynecologist at INEBIR – Institute for the Study of Human Reproductive Biology, shared on LinkedIn:
“PGT-A may improve embryo selection, but does it increase live births?
This systematic review suggests that PGT-A may improve outcomes per embryo transfer, yet it does not increase cumulative live-birth rates per woman or oocyte retrieval.
It may rank embryos, but it does not create more viable embryos.
With low-certainty evidence and almost double the treatment cost, routine use remains difficult to justify.
PGT-A should be offered selectively, with balanced counselling and shared decision-making-not as a universal IVF add-on.”
