PGT-A and EMMI: 2 Complementary Views of the Same Embryo – Noor Sciences

“PGT-A and EMMI: two complementary views of the same embryo.
This quick video compares what each method measures and where in the blastocyst it looks.
PGT-A analyzes a small biopsy of trophectoderm cells, the lineage that forms the placenta, to assess chromosome copy number. It remains the established method for genetic screening in IVF.
Because the inner cell mass, which gives rise to the fetus, is not sampled directly, trophectoderm results do not always reflect the inner cell mass, and some findings can be variable.
EMMI (Embryo Morpho-Metabolic Index – not FDA cleared yet), running on the EmLux platform, uses fluorescence lifetime imaging to measure metabolic activity in the inner cell mass (ICM) through the intrinsic signals of its enzymes and co-enzymes.
