Lucy Froese: Testing Early Isn’t Always Just About Impatience
Lucy Froese, Fertility and IVF Coach, shared on LinkedIn:
” ‘I promised myself I wouldn’t take another pregnancy test early this month.’
So why am I standing in the bathroom holding one?
You told yourself you’d wait until your period was due.
You wouldn’t obsess over every little symptom.
You definitely wouldn’t spend hours Googling what 9DPO symptoms might mean.
But then you feel a twinge.
Your boobs feel sore.
You’re a little more tired than usual.
And suddenly you’re wondering…
Could this finally be my month?
So you take a test.
It’s negative.
And even though you know it might be too early, your heart sinks.
But then the questions start.
- What if it was too soon?
- What if I test again tomorrow?
- What if there’s still a chance?
And before you know it, you’re back on Google, searching for answers.
I remember this emotional roller coaster so well.
And it’s something I see in the women I support through infertility.
Because testing early isn’t always just about impatience.
Sometimes it’s about desperately wanting some certainty when so much feels completely out of your control.
And when you’re living like this month after month, it can be utterly exhausting.
But here’s the thing.
The pregnancy test isn’t really the problem.
It’s the anxiety, the constant overthinking and the desperate need for reassurance when you have absolutely no idea what’s happening inside your body.
And another pregnancy test won’t necessarily give you the reassurance you’re searching for.
And this is exactly why I do the work I do.
Because when you’re trying to conceive, looking after your emotional wellbeing isn’t just about feeling less anxious.
My work focuses on the mind-body connection, helping women manage overwhelming thoughts, regulate their nervous system and optimise their wellbeing while trying to conceive.
And importantly, research has found that some mind-body interventions can be associated with improved pregnancy rates during fertility treatment.
So this isn’t simply about getting through another difficult two-week wait.
It’s about giving yourself support that can make a real difference to how you feel, how you cope, and your fertility journey too.
If you want to stop feeling consumed by trying to conceive, and start feeling calmer, more confident and in control, book a free consultation with me.”
