Kate Pleace: It’s World POI Day
Kate Pleace, Assistant Professor of Women’s Health at Dublin City University, shared on LinkedIn:
”Today is World POI Day!
Yet how many people have heard of Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI)?
POI occurs when the ovaries stop functioning normally before the age of 40.
Recent research suggests POI may be more common than we previously thought, impacting around 3.5% of women.
POI isn’t simply an early end to periods.
It can affect fertility, physical health, emotional wellbeing, relationships, and how someone sees their future.
Raising awareness of this condition matters.
Recognition matters.
And the women living with POI matter.
Think and Talk POI.”
