Vanshika Nepal: Cryopreservation in Assisted Reproductive Technology
Vanshika Nepal, Junior Embryologist at Dr. Sumita Sofat IVF Hospital, shared on LinkedIn:
“Cryopreservation in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART).
An important aspect of IVF is cryopreservation, which helps preserve reproductive cells and embryos for future use.
- Oocyte Freezing: Preserving unfertilized mature eggs for future fertility options.
- Embryo Freezing: Cryopreserving embryos after fertilization for future embryo transfer.
- Blastocyst Freezing: Preserving embryos that have developed to the blastocyst stage, typically on Day 5 or Day 6.
Each technique has its own indications and clinical considerations, depending on the patient’s circumstances and treatment plan.
As I continue learning in the field of embryology, I look forward to deepening my understanding of these laboratory techniques and their role in fertility care.”
