Impact of Pre-Stimulation Counselling on Cycle Cancellation and Patient Adherence for FET – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Salma Selim et al.:
”ART treatments are intricate and typically tailored to individual needs, and depend heavily on accurate patient participation. However, data examining cycle cancellations, their causes, and potential preventive strategies remain limited.
This new study of 8084 women initiating IVF treatments by Salma Selim and team at a tertiary centre in the United Arab Emirates assesses the impact of structured pre-stimulation counselling on cycle cancellation and patient adherence during ovarian stimulation and endometrial preparation for frozen embryo transfer.
The study focuses on first-cycle outcomes to minimize the influence of prior treatment experience, with results that indicate improved treatment continuity and patient adherence during ovarian stimulation cycles for patients receiving counselling, but not during endometrial preparation for FET.
These findings suggest that counselling may support treatment continuity during phases of IVF in which patient engagement plays a central role.”
