Robert Edwards: Pioneer of Reproductive Medicine – ESHRE

European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Sir Robert Edwards would have turned 100 on 27 September – a pioneer whose work laid the foundation for modern Reproductive Medicine.

As the co-developer of in vitro fertilisation (IVF), his research led to the birth of the first IVF baby in 1978. In 2010, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine – not just for that milestone, but for developing IVF and recognising its profound impact on fertility care worldwide. You can read more about his life and work here.

But his legacy goes beyond the lab.
In 1985, Sir Robert Edwards co-founded ESHRE, creating a platform for advancing reproductive medicine through research, education and collaboration across Europe and beyond.

Today, we honour his contribution to science – and to the global community ESHRE continues to serve.”
