Bonnie Feldman: LJI Scientists Receive WHAM Awards to Advance Sex-Specific Research in Autoimmunity and Women’s Health
Bonnie Feldman, CEO and Founder of Autoimmune Connect, shared a post by La Jolla Institute for Immunology on LinkedIn:
“All of this sex based research will benefit the 80% of autoimmune patients who are women. Thank you La Jolla Institute for Immunology”
Quoting La Jolla Institute for Immunology’s post:
“LJI researchers have received prestigious Women’s Health Access Matters (WHAM) Edge Awards to study how sex-based differences in the immune system affect patients with aggressive triple-negative breast cancer and those living with endometriosis: Alicia Gibbons is pioneering work to reduce the side-effects of immunotherapy in women with breast cancer, while Amparo Martínez-Pérez is investigating the immune underpinnings of endometriosis by analyzing menstrual immune cells. Their work could lead to more effective, tailored therapies for women’shealth. This research underscores LJI’s commitment to understanding how immune biology differs by sex—a critical step toward equitable and personalized care.”
