Laurent Moulin: Research Shows Stress Affects Women’s Hearts More Than Men’s
Laurent Moulin, Head of the Prevention and Health Promotion Department at Mutualité Française Auvergne–Rhône–Alpes, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Mayssa Moukarzel et al. published in Circulation:
“A recent study, published by researchers from McGill University, highlights a link between psychosocial stress and the development of cardiovascular disease, with a particularly marked impact on women.
This work does not observe a similar link in men, which confirms that stress does not have the same biological impacts depending on gender. It is therefore necessary to opt for differentiated prevention strategies and to integrate the issue of stress into the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in women.
This is the choice made in the ‘Coeur de femmes’ prevention cycle, deployed by the Mutualité Française. One of the five proposed components is intended to better understand the mechanisms of stress and prevent its impact on women’s cardiovascular health.
