Carmen Mair: 5 Things in Fertility that Can’t Be Improved
Carmen Mair, Fertility Nutritionist, shared on LinkedIn:
”5 things I would never promise you about egg quality.
The fertility industry has become very comfortable selling certainty around something medicine cannot guarantee.
Here’s what honest fertility support looks like:
- I won’t promise to reverse your biological age. Egg quality changes with age. Nutrition, metabolic health and nutrient status may support reproductive health, but they cannot turn back the clock.
- I won’t guarantee euploid embryos or a chromosomally normal pregnancy. No practitioner can honestly promise that. The goal is to optimise the factors we can influence, not pretend we control the outcome.
- I won’t diagnose egg quality from symptoms or AMH alone. AMH tells us about ovarian reserve, not egg quality. And feeling exhausted is not a fertility diagnosis.
- I won’t sell you a detox protocol. Your liver and kidneys already handle detoxification. Juice cleanses and aggressive restriction aren’t a shortcut to healthier eggs, and under-eating can work against reproductive health.
- I won’t tell you one supplement caused your pregnancy. If conception happens after several changes, there is usually no honest way to identify one pill as the reason.
That last point matters.
Good fertility care isn’t about making the biggest promise. It’s about being clear about what we know, what we don’t know, and what is actually worth investigating.
That is the standard I want for every woman I work with inside The Fertility Circle.”
