Gil Dubernard։ From Legacy to Leadership
Gil Dubernard, Professor and Head of the gynecologic and obstetric department at Croix-Rousse University Hospital-Hospices Civils, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“A significant week for my career.
Last week will remain as a highlight of my career: I was elected President of the College of Gynecologists and Obstetricians of our CHU.
It’s an honour, but above all a responsibility.
The hcl, the 2nd largest university hospital in France, has three university departments of Gynaecology and Obstetrics and has more than 10,000 births each year. The practitioners who practice there have, or have had, major national responsibilities:
- Prof. Cyril Huissoud secretary of the CGNOF in charge of obstetrics
- Dr. Mona Massoud President of the CFEF
- Dr. Jerome Massardier President of the CPDPN of France
- Prof. Gaucherand, President of the Aurore perinatal network, which brings together more than 20 maternity hospitals in the AURA region
In ART, the department headed by Prof. Bruno Salle Leyris de Campredon is one of the most active in France. And, from 2026, the CHU will have a Professor of Medical Gynaecology, Rousser-Jablonski.
On the gynecology side, the innovations are just as significant:
In endometrosis, last March we obtained CE certification for the HIFU treatment of rectal endometriosis
Prof. Pr François Golfier, François coordinates the Innovation Package to validate the EndoBest saliva test
Dr. Marion Cortet was recently appointed PU-PH, specializing in breast cancers
Professor Pierre-Adrien Bolze develops, within the National Center for Trophoblastic Diseases, innovative treatments in conjunction with the Cancer Institute
The management of ovarian cancer is based on close collaboration between the digestive and gynaecological surgery teams
We work closely with the imaging departments of the University Hospital and in particular Prof. Pascal Rousset
Every year, we train more than 60 interns in gynaecology and obstetrics.
The dynamics of our speciality in Lyon are exceptional.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to do an inter-CHU or a fellowship in one of our departments. And join the team hcl.
Last week, I also had the honour of being invited by Dr Patrick Carlioz, President of the AGIL, to present innovations in endometriosis, following a fascinating lecture by Prof. Jean-Louis Touraine on the history of transplantation in Lyon. It was an opportunity to look back at the first Lyonnais transplants: the first pancreas transplant in 1977 and arm and face transplants, carried out or coordinated by my father, Professor Jean-Michel Dubernard
I think I can say that my ‘Lyon transplant’ has taken off well”
