“Remembering Jean Purdy, the IVF Pioneer
Jean Purdy was a key figure in the development of in vitro fertilisation, working alongside Robert Edwards and Patrick Steptoe. She contributed extensively to the science, care and meticulous record-keeping that helped turn IVF from a dream into a clinical reality. Purdy’s work underpinned the early breakthroughs that gave hope to countless families struggling with infertility, and her dedication and scientific rigour helped ensure that IVF progressed with both compassion and precision.
If you’re interested in learning more about Jean Purdy and the IVF journey, you can read the story from the Science Museum: Jean Purdy: The Forgotten IVF Pioneer.
