Lauren Howard: Four Years on the Infertility Rollercoaster and the Call for Empathy
Lauren Howard, CEO of LBee Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I spent four years on the infertility rollercoaster. Four years of specialists, testing, and ‘no medical reason we can find.’
It changed everything: my social life, how I felt about good news, even who I trusted with my feelings.
I love my two kids. I would have 10 more if my uterus weren’t half-baked spaghetti. But getting here meant shape-shifting my whole existence. Every ‘Congrats, we’re expecting!’ was salt in a wound, even years after my happy ending finally arrived.
So, for anyone in the infertility trenches who needs someone to scream into the void with, or just someone to remind you that you are absolutely not alone? This episode of the podcast is for you.
Shame doesn’t belong to you. You can have your feelings, your pauses, your distance from baby showers and nosy acquaintances. You get to do this your way.
If you need solidarity, or just someone to mentally middle-finger anyone who asks “when you’re going to have kids,” come find me. (I have all the bandwidth in the world for creative cursing.)
Stop asking people about their fertility. Start listening instead. And if you’re still in the middle of it? I see you. It sucks. We’ll bulldoze through the bullshit together.
Luvyameanit.”
