Lucy Froese: When You Lose a Pregnancy, You Don’t Just Lose Your Baby…
Lucy Froese, Fertility and IVF Coach, shared on LinkedIn:
”When you lose a pregnancy, you don’t just lose your baby.
You can lose so much more.
You lose the future you’d already started imagining.
The baby you’d pictured holding in your arms.
The sibling you’d imagined for your child.
The excitement of telling your family and friends your happy news.
You can lose trust in your own body.
A body you thought you knew, but now struggle to understand.
You can lose faith in the medical world.
Especially when you’ve been through IVF, followed every instruction, done everything you were told to do, and still experienced loss.
You can lose the innocence of believing that a positive pregnancy test means you’ll bring a baby home.
You can lose the ability to feel excited about another pregnancy without fear creeping in.
You can lose confidence in what the future holds.
And sometimes, you lose a part of yourself that takes a long time to find again.
Not everyone experiences all of these things.
But I think we need to talk more about the losses that come with pregnancy loss.
Because when someone says, ‘At least you can try again,’ or ‘At least you know you can get pregnant,’ they often have no idea what that person is carrying.
It’s not just about the pregnancy that ended.
It’s about everything that pregnancy meant to them.
And everything they now have to find a way to navigate.
That’s something I wish more people understood during Pregnancy and Baby Loss Awareness Week.”
