Mohamad Farqhan Kelana: Witnessing the Very Beginnings of Life Is Nothing Short of Extraordinary in Our Facility
Mohamad Farqhan Kelana, Science Officer (Embryologist/Andrologist) at Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre, shared on LinkedIn:
“Witnessing the very beginnings of life is nothing short of extraordinary in our facility. Tunku Azizah Advanced Reproductive Unit (TiARA), SASMEC, Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
This incredible time-lapse video captures the precise, awe-inspiring process of early embryonic development. Over the course of roughly 110 hours, we can observe a single cell undergo rapid and meticulous division. The footage shows the embryo seamlessly transitioning from a two-cell stage to four, to a multi-celled embryo, eventually compacting and expanding into a complex blastocyst.
For professionals in embryology, reproductive endocrinology, and biotechnology, time-lapse imaging technology has revolutionized how we monitor and assess embryonic viability. Capturing these crucial developmental milestones allows for continuous observation without disturbing the delicate culture environment, leading to better clinical outcomes in IVF and a deeper scientific understanding of human biology.
Beyond the laboratory, this macroscopic view is a powerful metaphor for growth and a reminder of the remarkable complexity and resilience inherent in all of us right from day one.”
