Rifana Parveen: IVF is More Than a Medical Journey…
Rifana Parveen, Fertility Specialist and Gynecologist at The LifeTree, shared on LinkedIn։
“IVF is often explained in terms of injections, scans, procedures and success rates.
But there’s an emotional journey happening alongside all of it that nobody really prepares couples for.
- Hope. The excitement of starting a cycle and imagining the possibility of a baby.
- Anxiety. Waiting for scan results, hormone levels, egg numbers and every next step.
- Waiting. The days after embryo transfer can feel incredibly long.
- Disappointment. A negative result can bring grief, even when you knew it was possible.
And then comes the hardest part for many couples: Starting again.
IVF can test more than your patience. It can affect your sleep, relationship, work, finances and mental wellbeing.
If you’re going through it, remember that struggling emotionally doesn’t mean you’re not strong enough for the journey.
- Talk to your partner.
- Take breaks when you need them.
- Seek professional emotional support if it feels overwhelming.
And most importantly, don’t measure your entire fertility journey by one result.”
