Sandra Elaine Brooks: Centering Mental Health in Obstetrics and Gynecology at FIGO 2025
Sandra Elaine Brooks, Chief Executive Officer at ACOG, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I was honored to attend the Howard Taylor Lecture at FIGO2025 World Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics, a phenomenal session that centered mental health as essential to quality care in obstetrics and gynecology.
It was especially meaningful to hear from Dr. Stella Dantas, immediate past president of American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), whose leadership continues to shape how we care for both our patients and our workforce. She reminded us that connection is foundational to wellbeing and that when we support each other, we strengthen the entire system.
As Dr. Emily Miller reminded us: ‘The brain is connected to the body!’
When we invest in mental health and wellbeing, we improve outcomes across the board.
I was grateful also for the insights from Dr. Tiffany Moore Simas. This conversation is moving our field forward.
I am humbled by the depth of caring and expertise of our ACOG team, volunteer leaders, and contributors. They understand that a rope bonded together is stronger than one strand — and that collective strength is what drives meaningful change.”
