6 Figures to Talk About PCOS – SOPK Europe
SOPK Europe shared a post on LinkedIn:
“6 figures to talk about the PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)
During this PCOS Awareness Month, it is essential to remember that this disease is not limited to a simple hormonal problem: it has major impacts on the physical and mental health and quality of life of patients. Some key figures:
- People affected are 4 times more likely to have a stroke.
- 50% will develop type 2 diabetes before the age of 40.
- The number of suicide attempts is 7 times higher among those affected.
- The risk of developing gynecological cancer (endometrial cancer) is 3 times higher.
- Eating disorders are 21% more common in PCOS.
- And today, there is no curative treatment to treat PCOS (the symptoms are addressed one by one depending on the discomfort expressed by the patient).
These figures show the urgency of better informing, better diagnosing and better supporting those affected: PCOS is a PUBLIC HEALTH SUBJECT!
In 2025, it is essential to disseminate this information and advocate for comprehensive management of PCOS.
Share this post to raise awareness and support those affected by PCOS.”
