“As we reach the halfway mark of 2026, we’re delighted to showcase some exciting research, Reviews, Perspectives, and Editorial in our June issue.
1. The DETECT study suggests that 99mTc-maraciclatide imaging could help identify endometriosis, particularly superficial peritoneal disease. If validated in larger studies, this technique could become a novel diagnostic tool for endometriosis.

2. large global study across 26 countries confirms that premature menopause is consistently associated with major cardiovascular events across income and ethnic groups. Also, highlights a disproportionate burden of premature and early menopause among women in low-income countries and South Asian populations

3. One of the first cost-utility analysis of ferric carboxymaltose versus oral iron conducted globally. Ferric carboxymaltose was more cost-effective in Nigeria, providing locally relevant evidence with implications for other LMICs facing a high burden of iron-deficiency anaemia

4. The first network meta-analysis to compare lifestyle, pharmacological, hormonal, and combination therapies for women with excess adiposity and PCOS/PMOS. Including 52 RCTs (3,644 participants), it enabled head-to-head comparisons and ranking of interventions, while identifying the most effective treatment combinations for improving body composition and metabolic health
5. A scoping review of 89 studies highlights substantial gaps in menopause care worldwide, including poor provider knowledge, fragmented services, inconsistent guideline implementation, and persistent barriers to access. The findings underscore the need for better provider education and more coordinated, patient-centred, and culturally responsive models of menopause care

A systematic review of 54 international and national guidelines from 35 countries found broad agreement on the use of mid-trimester cervical length screening, progesterone, and cervical cerclage to prevent spontaneous preterm birth with substantial variation in screening criteria, progesterone use, cerclage indications, and pessary recommendations and limited guidance for multiple pregnancies
