Smoother Embryo Transfer Gestures Linked to Better Outcomes – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Embryo transfer is the final and decisive step in IV, where the introduction and ejection phases are critical components of the procedure. Using the VirtaMed Gynos simulator validated by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine – ASRM, this new study assesses how embryo transfer techniques vary according to procedural difficulty and practitioner expertise.
The study highlights:
- Kinematic parameters varied with model complexity and operator’s pregnancy rates
- Slower and smoother gestures were linked to higher pregnancy rates
- Simulation identified individual key performance metrics to improve embryo transfer
- Findings support a precision-based and standardized approach to embryo transfer
Based on their findings, authors Ndeye Racky Sall, Solène Duros, Arnaud Huaulmé, Maela Le Lous, Pierre Jannin, and Krystel Nyangoh Timoh suggest that standardised kinematic benchmarks could optimise training and improve clinical outcomes, with simulation allowing dissection of ET into measurable components, bridging variability and reproducibility.
The full paper is available now as a pre-proof to RBMO subscribers from our in-press articles section now.”
