President’s Achievement Awards in Women’s Health Research – SRI
Society for Reproductive Investigation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The SRI is proud to recognize the recipients of this year’s President’s Achievement Awards, honoring two extraordinary leaders whose work has profoundly advanced women’s health, reproductive science, and the next generation of investigators.
Marianna Alperin
Dr. Alperin is a Professor, Vice Chair for Translational Research, and Research Director of the WRHR Career Development Program in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at UC San Diego, as well as Co‑Director of WHISDEM. Her NIH- and CIRM-funded research program is dedicated to advancing scientifically grounded, regenerative approaches to women’s health and urogynecologic disorders.
Through innovative experimental models, translational studies, and interdisciplinary collaborations, her work has deepened our understanding of how pregnancy, birth injury, aging, menopause, and other life events impact pelvic and lower urinary tract tissues. A devoted mentor and nationally recognized leader, Dr. Alperin also champions equity in women’s health research through her advocacy and leadership, including service with the Women First Research Coalition.
Indira Mysorekar
Dr. Mysorekar is the E. L. Wagner Endowed Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and a global leader in reproductive immunology. Her research has transformed our understanding of how infections affect women across the lifespan, from pregnancy to menopause.
Her landmark discoveries have clarified mechanisms underlying urinary tract infection susceptibility, placental infection, and vertical transmission during major public health crises, including Zika and COVID‑19. In addition to her pioneering science, Dr. Mysorekar is a dedicated mentor and leader, currently serving as President of the American Society for Reproductive Immunology and leading the SRI Scientific Entrepreneurship Academy.
Please join us in celebrating Dr. Alperin and Dr. Mysorekar for their sustained, transformative contributions to reproductive investigation, mentorship, advocacy, and leadership.”
